Granie R Jayalath has graduated from University of Moratuwa (1986), Sri Lanka, specializing in Civil/Highway Engineering. He holds MSc (Eng.) in Engineering Geological Survey and GIS in spatial planning from University of Utrecht, The Netherlands (1996), further he holds a Master degree in Economics, specialized in Transport Economics from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka (2008) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology and a PG (Dip) in Construction Management from OUSL. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (SL) and a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highway and Transport (UK), a life member of Indian Road Congress and a member of the World Road Association (PIARC). He currently serves attached to the Road Development Authority of Sri Lanka. He serves as a Vice President of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka. So far, he has presented more than 18 Technical and Research based papers both locally and at international conventions on transport road engineering. His main research areas are local solutions for managing congestion, evidence based transport policy formulation.
